Led by Spectrum, High Schoolers Celebrate National Coming Out Day
Grace Church High School students and faculty members gathered together on October 15, 2021 to celebrate the 33rd Annual National Coming Out Day.
High school students from the LGBTQ+ affinity group, Spectrum, organized and promoted the event which included a presentation on their group’s goal of being an inclusive and welcoming space for Grace’s LGTBQ+ students and allies. Students also danced and vogued to music from their favorite queer artists and picked out their drag names (favorite snack+street you grew up on). The Faculty Gender/Sexuality Alliance alongside Mr. Andre, Dean of Equity and Inclusion, emceed the event’s activities and reiterated Grace Church School’s commitment to value and cherish each student’s individuality.
The two groups will continue honoring National Coming Out Day for years to come and will keep celebrating LGTBQ+ leaders, past and present, who’ve broken down barriers to shape a more equal and inclusive society.
